KWIK-L is in beta. The product is changing, and these terms will change with it. We will tell you here, and by email, before anything that affects you takes effect.
KWIK-L is a companion you talk to. That means it holds things you have said, so it can be useful the next time you speak. This page says exactly what is kept, who can see it, and how to remove it.
KWIK L Inc, a Colorado corporation, Denver, Colorado 80202, United States, is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach a human at support@kwikl.com.
Your account. Your email address, a display name if you give one, when you signed up, and your settings — including how your companion looks, how you like to be spoken to, and your accessibility choices.
Sign-in links. When you ask for a sign-in link we store a one-way hash of that link, your address, the time and the requesting IP. We never store the link itself, so a copy of our database cannot be used to sign in as you. Links expire in fifteen minutes, work once, and are swept from the database a day later.
Your conversations. What you write to KWIK-L and what it replies, so the thread is there when you come back.
Memories. Short facts drawn from your conversations so the companion does not ask you the same thing twice — things like a preferred name or that you like short answers. You can read every one, edit it, delete it, or turn the whole mechanism off.
Your companion. Its design and its Companion ID, plus any reservation you place for a physical one.
Operational records. Token counts, cost and response time per turn, and an event log of actions like signing in or clearing history. These exist to keep the service affordable and diagnosable.
The memory system is instructed, in the software itself, never to extract information about health conditions, diagnoses, medication, mental health, therapy, finances, sexual activity, religion, politics, race, ethnicity, immigration status, criminal history, abuse, self-harm, or any government or payment identification number. If something is unclear, it is left out.
This is a restriction on what is written down, not on what you may discuss. You can talk to KWIK-L about anything; it simply will not file it.
AI providers. To answer you, the text of your conversation and your memories are sent to whichever AI provider serves that turn. Depending on configuration that is Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. They process it to generate a reply under their own terms as our processors. We do not sell data to them or to anyone, and nothing you say is used to train our own models — we do not have any.
Email delivery. Your address is passed to our email provider to deliver sign-in links.
Fulfilment. If you order a physical companion, the manufacturer receives your Companion ID, the design and your delivery details. They receive nothing you have said — the certificate we hand them is cryptographically signed over the design only, never over conversation or memory.
We also disclose data where the law compels it, and we will tell you when we are permitted to.
Data is stored in the United States. Conversations and memories are kept until you delete them or close your account. Operational records are kept for up to twenty-four months. Deleting your account removes your conversations, memories and sessions, anonymises the account record, and cancels any open reservation.
Export everything, as JSON, from your settings, at any time. Read, edit or delete any individual memory, or clear them all. Clear your conversation history while keeping your memories. Turn memory off entirely. Delete your account, permanently, from your settings.
Depending on where you live you may also have rights to correction, restriction, objection and complaint to a supervisory authority. Write to support@kwikl.com and we will act on it.
KWIK L Inc does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in United States state privacy law. There is no advertising in KWIK-L, no advertising identifiers, and no data broker relationships. We have never done this and there is nothing to opt out of.
Colorado, California, Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and a growing number of other states give residents rights over their personal data. Wherever you live, we give every KWIK-L account the same rights rather than making you prove your address: you can see everything we hold, correct it, export it in a machine-readable file, and delete it — from Settings, without asking us, and without a fee.
If you would rather we did it, write to support@kwikl.com. We will confirm within ten days and complete it within forty-five. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of this. If we ever refuse a request you may appeal by replying to our answer, and we will respond within forty-five days with our reasoning; Colorado residents may then contact the Colorado Attorney General, and California residents the California Privacy Protection Agency.
We do not use your data for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not process it to train any AI model — not ours, and not our providers'.
Passwords, where used, are hashed with scrypt. Sessions are httpOnly cookies. Sign-in links are stored only as hashes. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfect; if we ever get this wrong in a way that affects you, we will tell you.
KWIK-L is for adults. It is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a child has an account, write to support@kwikl.com and it will be removed.
KWIK-L is in beta. The product is changing and this notice will change with it. What will not change without telling you first is the list of what is never put into memory, and the promise that your data is not sold and not used for training.
If this page changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the product before it takes effect rather than quietly updating a date.
